September 7, 2007 Law School to Host CLE on “Mediation of the Complex Case: The Catholic Church Experience” Friday, September 14 as Part of Law School Alumni WeekendU.S. District Judge Michael R. Hogan and former Lane County Circuit Court Judge Lyle Velure will present a Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) discussion at the Law School, titled “Mediation of the Complex Case: The Catholic Church Experience” Friday, September 14, 2007, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Law School. Judge Hogan and Judge Velure will address the complex mediation process, in which both were involved, that led to a $75 million settlement of clergy sexual abuse claims and a financial reorganization plan for the Catholic Archdiocese of Portland, Oregon. Their work received high praise for sparing the parties months or years of litigation, and bringing this sensitive and complex process to resolution.
