CLE Presentation on Oregon’s New Civil Rights Laws to be Held at School of Law January 25

On January 1, 2008, the Oregon Equality Act (Senate Bill 2) and Oregon Family Fairness Act (House Bill 2007) went into effect. On January 25, 2008, from 12:00-3:00 p.m., a CLE presentation titled, “Oregon’s New Civil Rights Laws — Are You Ready?” will be held in Room 110 of the School of Law.  The CLE is sponsored by the University of Oregon School of Law Outlaws, Oregon Gay & Lesbian Law Association, Basic Rights Education Fund, and ACLU of Oregon.  The presentation will discuss the Oregon Equality Act, which creates a comprehensive, statewide anti-discrimination law outlawing discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Oregonians in housing, employment, and public accommodation. It will also discuss the Oregon Family Fairness Act, which provides legal recognition for same-sex couples and their families through domestic partnerships.  MCLE accreditation is pending.  Pre-registration is required.  To reserve a lunch, register by January 15 at 5:00 p.m.; final registration (no lunch) closes at 5:00 p.m. on January 22.
