Antoinette Moore to Speak on Indigenous Rights and the Environment Wednesday, September 10

Antoinette Moore, a human rights lawyer who recently secured a victory for Mayan villagers in Belize, is delivering a lecture at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, in Knight Law Center room 175. Her lecture is titled “Protecting Belize and Beyond: Indigenous Rights and the Environment.”

Moore’s recent work led the Belize Supreme Court to rule that indigenous peoples are entitled to own and control their traditional lands. She is a partner with the Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide (“ELAW”), located in Eugene, working to advance her work in protecting the indigenous peoples and environment in Belize.

Moore’s lecture is sponsored by ELAW and the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics.
