Wayne Morse Center Presents “The Imperial Presidency” November 14

The Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics will present “The Imperial Presidency: Citizens and the Growth of Executive Power,” from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 14, in Knight Law Center 175.

The presentation welcomes guest speakers Marjorie Cohn, president of the National Lawyers Guild; Shane Kadidal, senior managing attorney for the Center for Constitutional Rights; and Jordan Paust, author of Beyond the Law: The Bush Administration’s Unlawful Responses in the “War” on Terror.

The presentation will examine how the Bush/Cheney administration has reshaped the presidency through unprecedented exercise of executive authority and secrecy. The speakers argue that this exercise has adversely impacted the rights of citizens and will discuss how we can constructively compel a new administration to return constitutional protections to the people.

A reception and book signing will follow in the Wayne Morse Commons. For more information, call 541-346-3700.

This event is co-sponsored by the University of Oregon Political Science Department, the Geography Department, the Women’s Law Forum, and the American Constitution Society.
