Priscilla Yamin Presents “Marriage and the Politics of Welfare” November 21

The Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics will host University of Oregon Political Science Professor Priscilla Yamin at noon Friday, November 21, in the KnighProfessor Priscilla Yamint Law Center’s Lewis Lounge for a discussion titled “Marriage and the Politics of Welfare.”The presentation is part of a colloquia series developed by Wayne Morse Senior Faculty Fellow Dan Tichenor
 
Professor Yamin received both her master’s degree and doctorate from the New School for Social Research in New York. Her areas of research include the role of marriage in the political history of the United States; American politics and history; gender studies; and feminist theory.
 
The colloquium will center around Professor Yamin’s work-in-progress, “Nuptial Nation: Marriage and the Politics of Civic Membership in the U.S.” A copy of her draft is available for download on the Wayne Morse Center Upcoming Events Web page.
