Mary Wood to Present at Post Carbon Eugene Forum December 10
Mary Wood, Philip H. Knight Professor of Law, will address Post Carbon Eugene‘s 2008 Energy Uncertainty Public Forum Series with a presentation titled, “Act Locally, Think Globally: How Nature’s Trust Can Seed Relocalization and Pollinate Planetary Patriotism.” This free event takes place from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, December
10, in the Training Room of the EWEB North Building, located at 500 East 4th Avenue in Eugene.
Professor Wood’s presentation will examine how the new White House administration creates an opportunity for a fundamental paradigm shift in environmental law. She argues that a Nature’s Trust (the government’s obligation to protect natural resources) reorientation through all levels of government will secure the natural infrastructure and ecological wealth needed for local sustainability and adaptation to climate change and peak oil.
Professor Wood is the founding director of Oregon Law’s Environmental and Natural Resources Law Program is Faculty Leader of the program’s Conservation Trust Project, Sustainable Land Use Project, and Native Environmental Sovereignty Project.
