Domestic Violence Streetlaw Program is Back, Announces New 2009-10 Leadership

Oregon Law’s Domestic Violence Steetlaw student organization is back in action, having recently announced the names of its 2009-10 leaders. Next year’s leaders are:

Tracy Frazier

Josh Medina

Everett Meadows

Lindsay Day

Streetlaw Program Director Ana Mamani-Haymes said the revival of this organization is due in large part to the lack of funding for a number of domestic violence programs throughout the area.

“It seems as though there will absolutely be a need for this student group to offer their services as a free resource,” Mamani-Haymes said. “I feel like this is a really important area of law that needs to be used to educate the community.”

The mission of the Domestic Violence Streetlaw organization is to generate awareness of domestic violence in the local community, provide community members with a basic framework of their legal rights and responsibilities, and to help others identify the underlying sociological tensions that arise in a domestic violence related trial.
