Merv Loya Makes Last Official Alumni Visit to Portland June 25
Oregon Law is hosting a Portland Alumni Reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the law offices of Dunn Carney Allen Higgins & Tongue LLP. Dean Margie Paris along with other members of the law school community will be in attendance.
The reception marks Merv Loya‘s last official alumni visit to Portland. Loya served as assistant dean and director of Career Services from 1986 to 2007 and thereafter as special assistant to the dean. On May 16, Loya was awarded the 2009 Meritorious Service Award at the law school’s commencement ceremony.
In addition, Oregon Law recently announced that nearly $2,000 has been raised for the school’s Loan Repayment Assistance Program (“LRAP”) in honor of Loya’s retirement. A leaf on the law school’s LRAP sculpture will be engraved with his name to help assure that Merv Loya is forever associated with Oregon Law’s public service mission.
