“Sanctuaries,” a stunning exhibit featuring images of the Oregon Coast and the High Desert of the Southeast is now open at Oregon Law."Sept. 1976" Scott Blackman (c)

Oregon photographer Scott Blackman has compiled 26 photographs capturing the great beauty of the Oregon coastal environment for the larger portion of the exhibit that appears on the law school’s second floor gallery. Additionally, six images of the of Eastern Oregon desert are on display in the Dean’s Administration Suite on the law school’s first floor.

"E. Oregon Desert" Scott Blackman (c)Describing his work, Blackman says, “Being persistent in my approach has enabled me to get the shots that I’ve envisioned. Getting the right light is essential to the mood of the picture. In most cases I prefer to shoot in the early morning, late afternoon, and sunset light, even into dusk. Only by returning to a subject many times have I been able to capture certain fleeting moments of light.”

Sanctuaries is on display through December 14 and is open everyday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A public reception and slideshow of Blackman’s work is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 8, at the law school.
