Professor Susan Gary to Speak at Annual Estate Planning Seminar October 2
Susan Gary, Orlando J. and Marian H. Hollis Professor of Law, will present at the 54th Annual Estate Planning Seminar this weekend at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, Washington.
Professor Gary will speak at 3:25 p.m. Friday, October 2, on “Oregon Hot Topics.” Her presentation will inform participants about Oregon’s new elective share statute, the interstate guardianship act, some useful technical fixes for Oregon’s Uniform Trust Code, and other legislative changes. She will also discuss what the Oregon courts have been doing this year and what legislative projects are underway for 2011.
Prior to joining Oregon Law, Professor Gary practiced estate planning and advised charitable organizations at Mayer, Brown & Platt (now Mayer Brown LLP) in Chicago and worked in international taxation at DeBandt, van Hecke and Lagae in Brussels. At the law school, Professor Gary’s research examines the ways inheritance laws apply to changing family structures, regulation of nonprofit organizations, and use of mediation in estate planning and probate.
