Wayne Morse Center Names Professor Richard Hildreth 2010-11 Resident Scholar
The Morse Center will host three UO faculty next year who will research and collaborate with the center on programs relevant to the theme of “Climate Ethics and Climate Equity.”
Professor Hildreth’s conference and paper will explore, “Ocean Impacts of Climate Change: Science, People, and Policy.” In his research, Professor Hildreth will clarify the implications of recent science for law and policy on climate change. Ocean warming and acidification are accelerating and will have large impacts on small island states and low-lying communities. International and domestic laws need clarification based on emerging science.
Allison Carruth, assistant professor of English, and Derrick Hindery, assistant professor in the Department of International Studies, will join Professor Hildreth as resident scholars.
