Oregon Child Advocacy Project to Present Panel on Faith Healing March 4

The Oregon Child Advocacy Project will present a panel discussion on faith healing and parents’ obligation to provide medical care to children from noon to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, in Knight Law Center 142.

Faith Healing: Where Do Parents’ Rights End and Children’s Begin” will examine the recent prosecution of four Oregon parents for criminal homicide when they did not seek medical care for their children due to religious beliefs. This issue last came before the Oregon courts a dozen years ago in State v. Hays.

The lawyers and judge who tried this case will discuss their experiences and their views on the legal response to faith healing.
