Annual Rennard Strickland Lecture Welcomes Larry Echo Hawk Nov. 17
The fourth Annual Rennard Strickland Lecture, honoring the former UO Law School Dean and Native American scholar, examines native leadership and vision for environmental stewardship in the 21st Century. This year’s guest is Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Indian Affairs Larry Echo Hawk, who will present, “We Must be Wise Stewards of the Sacred Land.”
Echo Hawk’s lecture will take place at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, in 110 Knight Law Center. A reception will follow in the Many Nations Longhouse.
Echo Hawk is a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, and was selected by the Obama administration to serve as assistant secretary of the interior for Indian Affairs. He is a former U.S. Marine and former attorney general for Idaho. He also serves as a professor at Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.
