Oregon Law student takes second in 2010 Law Student Legal Writing Contest

Third-year Oregon Law student Nicole McMillan recently took second place honors at the 2010 Law Student Legal Writing Contest sponsored by the International Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.

Entries to the contest were judged on their contribution to the international legal profession, analysis and research, timeliness, originality, proper spelling and grammar, and proper format. McMillan’s entry is titled, “Judicial Decision-Making and International Child Abduction: Balancing Direct Communication and Judicial Independence in the Application of the Hague Convention.”

The awards and honors for second place include a $500 cash prize, plaque, consideration for publication in the Texas Transnational Law Quarterly, and admission to the International Law Section’s prestigious 23rd Annual International Law Institute.
