Barran Liebman LLP continues strong Duck tradition
Two Oregon Law graduates, Sean P. Ray and Laura Salerno Owens, both from the class of 2007, recently joined Barran Liebman LLP as associates. Barran Liebman focuses on representing employers and finding solutions for their employment law and labor management needs. They specialize in employment advice, employment litigation, labor relations and employee benefits.
Sean P. Ray earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Portland and his J.D. at the University of Oregon.
He represents management in employment matters in state court and before Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries. He focuses on litigation and advice work, in employment and labor matters. To help prevent workplace issues, Sean drafts and revises employee handbooks and trains employers and Human Resources to ensure compliance with changes in the law.
As the Young Lawyers Section Membership Committee Chair and recipient of the 2011 Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section Award of Merit, Sean is active in the Multnomah Bar Association. He also is a member of The Lawyer’s Campaign for Equal Justice Associates Committee and the CourtCare Advisory Committee. In addition to being licensed to practice in Oregon, Sean is also a Registered United States Patent Attorney.
Laura Salerno Owens earned her B.A. at the University of California at Los Angeles and her J.D. at the University of Oregon, where she externed for Honorable Ann Aiken, Chief Judge of the United States District Court of Oregon.
Her practice focuses on employment litigation and advice. She defends employers in claims arising from discrimination and wage and hour violations, in both single and class action lawsuits.
She is a Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representative for the District of Oregon and is the Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Oregon Federal Bar Association. She has authored articles on recent developments in employment law and has presented on employment law topics.
Barran Liebman is honored to have such accomplished and dedicated young lawyers from the University of Oregon School of Law joining the practice.
