Students host 6th annual Green Business Symposium

Green Business Initiative Student Association to Discuss ‘Practical Innovations for Northwest Technologies’

The 6th annual Green Business Symposium will take place beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the White Stag Building in Portland, Ore. The event will tackle the topic "Raining Green: Practical Innovations for Northwest Technologies."

The symposium brings together important regional and national business leaders, policymakers, legal practitioners, academics and students to engage in discussions on how we can achieve a more sustainable economy and living environment.

Dr. Woodrow Clark, an internationally recognized author, lecturer, public speaker and advisor specializing in sustainable communities, will join the symposium as this year's keynote speaker. Clark was a contributing scientist to the work of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (UNIPCC), which as an organization won a Nobel Peace Prize in December 2007. Clark's keynote address will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Professor Dave Frohmayer, University of Oregon president emeritus and law professor, will deliver the symposium's welcome address at 10 a.m. Frohnmayer also previously served as Oregon Law's dean, as Oregon's attorney general, as a member of the Oregon House of Representatives and as a law professor and legal counsel to the president of the University of Oregon.

The symposium will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 5 p.m. with a post-symposium informal discussion at the Bridgeport Brewery in Portland (1318 Northwest Northrup Street).

The Green Business Initiative Student Association (GBISA) are environmentally focused students from both Oregon Law and the Lundquist College of Business. GBISA promotes awareness of sustainable business practices, and the legal framework and policies that support green business.
