Love@OregonLaw: Traci and Sean
Sometimes you get a lot more than a J.D. after three years of law school. This year, to commemorate Valentine's Day, Oregon Law asked alumni to submit stories of how they met their spouse or significant other while attending law school. Read on to learn the stories of seven couples who found Love@OregonLaw.
Sean Ray, ‘07 and Traci Hopfe, ’07 met the first day of their 1L year in 2004. Interestingly, Sean had actually sat behind Traci at Oregon Law's 1L orientation, and they had Torts, Criminal Law, and Legal Writing together.
Sean and Traci hit it off at One Hell (the Halloween party that was held inside the law school at the time), and began dating. Their relationship continued all through law school, and they both passed the bar in 2007.
Three years later, the two married in Maui. In 2011, they welcomed their first child, daughter Ensley, and in April they will welcome their son, Rock.
Additionally, Sean and Traci made lifelong friends while at Oregon Law: Mackenzie Hogan and Emily Aanestad. Mackenzie ’07 and Emily ’08, who also met at Oregon Law, married in 2009, and welcomed their daughter, Riley in 2011. The Rays and Hogans live within a mile of one another in Portland, Ore., and are the godparents to each other’s children.
