Love@OregonLaw: Elizabeth and Joe

Sometimes you get a lot more than a J.D. after three years of law school. This year, to commemorate Valentine's Day, Oregon Law asked alumni to submit stories of how they met their spouse or significant other while attending law school. Read on to learn the stories of seven couples who found Love@OregonLaw. Joe-Liz Wedding

Lizzie (Holsapple) Kraus '11 wasn't too impressed with Joe Kraus '09 when she saw him give a welcome speech to her class during her first week of law school. However, she decided to give him another chance after meeting him through her friend John Mellgren '11 (Joe's mentee).

After spending a few months getting to know each other, Lizzie attended an alumni dinner where she had a wonderful conversation with Associate Dean of Student Affairs Jane Gordon. Jane later met with Joe and suggested that he ask Lizzie out on a date. This was all the encouragement Joe needed! The two spent a lovely night at the movies and have never looked back since. They were married this past July and currently practice law in Portland.
