Love@OregonLaw: Lisa and Saulius
Sometimes you get a lot more than a J.D. after three years of law school. This year, to commemorate Valentine's Day, Oregon Law asked alumni to submit stories of how they met their spouse or significant other while attending law school. Read on to learn the stories of seven couples who found Love@OregonLaw.
Lisa Rycus Mikalonis '86 and Saulius Mikalonis '86, both Michigan natives, met in their first year at Oregon Law. They first talked after running into each other in line registering for classes. They also sat next to each other in a couple of their first-year classes.
Lisa and Saulius didn't start dating until well into their second semester of law school, but things progressed rather quickly after that.
"We got engaged in the summer between first and second year and were married in Ann Arbor (Lisa's hometown) on August 17, 1985," recalls Saulius.
Upon graduation, the couple moved to Michigan, then to Washington, D.C., and finally back to Michigan to start a family. They have three sons: Sam (23), Even (21), and Tyler (19). Lisa practices intellectual property litigation and Saulius practices environmental law in the Detroit area.
