Land Trust and Conservation Law

Explains the nature and legal foundations of land trusts and conservation easements and addresses complex legal and practical issues confronting the land trust community today. The course parses the complex strands of state and federal laws underpinning the existence and operation of land trusts and their use of conservation easements to control or stop development. Grading will be based on the practical skills exercises (30%) and a final ten page paper addressing a single problematic issue currently facing the land trust community (70%).
