Supreme Court Advocacy is a course focusing on appellate advocacy, particularly in the United States Supreme Court. The class is limited to 18 students, each of whom will spend half the semester inhabiting the role of a current Supreme Court justice and the other half preparing and arguing a case currently pending in the Supreme Court. The course focuses on the skills of oral advocacy and judicial opinion writing, as well as on Supreme Court history and practice. Each student will write an opinion that will satisfy the upper division writing requirement. Students that have already met the writing requirement may choose to have this course meet the Skills requirement. The final grade will be based on the opinion and the students efforts in oral advocacy.
