Examines the complex network of rules that underlies even seemingly simple transactions, such as cashing a check or taking collateral for a loan, and how those rules affect personal transactions and more intricate business transactions. Emphasis on Uniform Commercial Code Article 9, which governs secured transactions, and on UCC Articles 3 and 4, which govern negotiable instruments and the bank / customer relationship.
