Business Law Statement of Completion
A Business Law Statement of Completion will provide students with specialized knowledge of legal procedures related to the regulation of businesses, corporations and organizations. Additionally, students earning this statement of completion will gain highly sought-after research, accounting, and legal expertise.
Students seeking to study the management and internal control of large and small-scale business in greater depth may also want to take courses in the University’s Graduate School of Management, or to pursue the J.D./M.B.A. concurrent degree program.
Requirements
To receive a Business Law Statement of Completion, a student must satisfactorily complete the following courses:
- Accounting for Lawyers*
- Business Associations
- Advanced Business Law
- Commercial Law
- Bankruptcy
- Federal Tax I
- Federal Tax II
- Securities Regulation
*In lieu of completing Accounting for Lawyers, a student may demonstrate, to the satisfaction of a faculty committee, competence in the fundamentals of financial and managerial accounting.
In addition to completing the curriculum listed above, a candidate for a Business Law Statement of Completion must complete an academic research paper concerning business law of high professional quality. The student must receive advance approval of his or her topic from a faculty member of the Business Law Certification Committee.
