We are currently preparing for the Northwest Public Service Career Fair, a networking and recruiting event open to students and alumni that will take place in Seattle on Friday, February 3, 2012, and Portland on Saturday, February 4, 2012.

In 2011, 83 nonprofit organizations and government offices participated in this event; we expect a similar turnout in 2012.

To apply for work with a participating employer, you will submit an application through TWEN (on Westlaw) by January 16, 2012. The fee for attending the fair is $15 for students and alumni. This event provides great networking opportunities; we encourage you to attend regardless of whether an employer arranges to interview you.

In addition to saving February 3 and February 4, you should prepare for this career fair by taking these steps:

  • Update and polish your resume.
  • Think about how you can best explain your interest in various kinds of public interest work.
  • Line up references who are happy to speak favorably about your potential as a lawyer.
  • Identify a recent work product that you can submit as a writing sample; proofread and polish it.

For additional information, check the career fair’s website at http://www.nwpifair.org. Online student preregistration opens on November 15, 2011.
