LANE COUNTY BAR MENTOR PROGRAM: A Great Opportunity for First-Year Students

Published in the September 20, 2011, Advisor

Each year, the Center for Career Planning and Professional Development and the Lane County Bar collaborate to connect first-year students with local mentors, volunteer lawyers and judges. Each mentor-mentee pair decides how to proceed; some complete job shadowing sessions, while others meet for coffee or lunch on occasion.

To apply for a mentor, go to the Career Center’s website at http://www.law.uoregon.edu/career/mentoring and fill out the 2011-12 Mentor Program Student Application Form. Email your completed form to Bonnie Williams no later than Friday, September 30. Mentors typically are not assigned to 2Ls and 3Ls, so 1Ls should be sure to participate in this program now.

Students participating in the program are invited to meet their mentors and socialize with other mentors and students at the Oregon Electric Station on Thursday, November 3, at 5:30 p.m.
