Judicial Clerkships

Each year we field a number of questions from students about judicial clerkships. Most courts and judges (general trial jurisdiction or higher) have an opening each year for one or more judicial clerks. Relatively few, however, actively recruit or widely distribute notices of openings.

The UO Law School is a member of the Northwest Consortium of Law Schools, which maintains a common online Judicial Clerkship Database. This resource, updated in September of each year, contains information on openings with most federal judges and state appellate judges. In addition, it includes information on openings with trial judges in major urban areas in the Northwest and in some mountain states and Hawaii.
