Carl S. Bjerre specializes in commercial law, with particular emphasis on investment securities and other financial market transactions. He earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Cornell and clerked with a federal district judge in New York City, and then practiced law for six years with the international law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton, also in New York. He is an appointed member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, which is responsible for formulating most of the nation's commercial law, and a member of its Uniform Commercial Code oversight committee. Professor Bjerre was a member of the United States delegation to UNIDROIT (the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law) for the negotiation of the Geneva Convention on Substantive Rules for Intermediated Securities and a member of the UCC Article 9 Joint Review Committee. Currently he is Vice Chair of the American Bar Association's investment securities subcommittee.
