Examines the Post-9/11 Terrain
As the response to the terrorist bombing of
the World Trade Center and the Pentagon changed into a permanent War on
Terror, some American residents have experienced more drastic changes
than others. Find out how refugees, guest workers, and minority
communities experience the new policies at this scholarly conference
sponsored by the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics and CODAC.
The conference takes place Thursday and Friday,
March 31 and April 1, in Room 175 at the Knight Law Center, 1515 Agate
St.
Keynoter Roberto Lovato
is a Los Angeles writer for Pacific News Service whose work has
appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Salon, the Nation, La Opinion and
other national media.
Presenters include UO law professors Keith Aoki and Steve Bender.
All talks and panel discussions are free and open to the public unless otherwise
indicated. Topics include: Thursday evening's program, set for 7 to 8:30 p.m., includes the
keynote address and roundtable discussion, "Re-Burdening the White Man
(and the Rest of Us): National Security and Race Viewed from within the
Empire."
