Wednesday, August 17, when 179 first-year students finish a week of
orientation activities and join 340 2Ls and 3Ls for the 2005-6
academic year.
This year, the school welcomes 19 students to its inaugural master's degree class for conflict and dispute resolution. They will participate in only the second such program to be based at a law school. For their interdisciplinary degree they will be taught by some of the best mediators, law professors, philosophy, sociology and counseling faculty members on campus. The new program was spearheaded by Associate Dean Jane Gordon, who heads the growing Appropriate Dispute Resolution Center. The law schools top rated environmental law program welcomes its first permanent director this fall. Assistant Professor Adell Amos, a water rights attorney who graduated from Oregon in 1998, said Im particularly excited to engage in the key environmental issues and public policy discussions and to prepare our law students to be leaders in natural resources law.
