Law Student Chad Marriott Awarded Externship With Chief Environmental
Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight
and Government Reform
The School of Law is pleased to announce that second year law
student Chad Marriott has been awarded an externship with the Chief
Environmental Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee
on Oversight and Government Reform. The Committee, currently chaired
by Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA), is the main investigative
committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction to
investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy
implications. In the externship, Marriott will work directly with
School of Law alumnus Greg Dotson, Chief Environmental Counsel and
Representative Waxman's Environment and Energy Aide. During the Fall
of 2007 the Committee will be focusing on energy policy, implementation
of the new energy bill and the role of executive branch scientists in
current climate and energy policy. Marriott's work will include legal
research on energy policy, analysis of key provisions of the 2007
energy bill, drafting legislation specifically geared toward follow up
to the new energy bill, and legislative oversight of executive branch
implementation of energy policy.
