Professor Megan McAlpin to serve as Director of Clinics and Externships
Professor Megan McAlpin recently was named Director of Clinics and Externships for the University of Oregon School of Law. She takes over for Professor Joan Rocklin, who served in the position for three years.
"I'm really excited to be taking on this new position," McAlpin enthused. "I'm looking forward to the chance to continue working with students as they develop lawyering skills through clinical and externship experiences."
In an announcement to the Oregon Law community, Dean Michael Moffitt noted Professor McAlpin's extraordinary energy, experience, and vision for this position.
"She is committed to assuring that our clinical and externship offerings serve the law school's academic mission and benefit our students as they structure their legal education and careers," Dean Moffitt said.
"I am thrilled to begin working with Professor McAlpin," added Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Adell Amos. "She brings a deep commitment to the student experience and a strong sense of the importance and value of opportunities that allow students to begin to engage the practice of law."
Dean Amos also expressed gratitude for Professor Rocklin's service as the first to hold this position at the law school.
"I am so grateful for the time and attention that Professor Rocklin gave in her term as the Director of Clinics and Externships. She expanded our programs and ensured that we have solid footing upon which to grow."
While at Oregon Law, Professor McAlpin has taught Legal Research and Writing I and II, Legal Drafting, Intensive Writing, and Advanced Legal Research.
Professor McAlpin has worked on major committees for both the Association of Legal Writing Directors and the Legal Writing Institute, including conference planning committees for both organizations and the LWI New Member Outreach Committee.
