Oregon Law among ‘Best Schools for Public Service’

The National Jurist, a leading national magazine in legal education, has recognized the University of OregonSchool of Law as a top school for students pursuing public interest law.

The article, “Best Schools for Public Service,” was published in the January 2012 issue of The National Jurist and features law schools with “a proven track record of producing graduates for the different segments of public service.”

The National Jurist considered factors such as standard of living and employment data in the selection process.

Oregon Law is recognized in two categories:graduating future prosecutors and public defenders, and graduating public interest lawyers. There are 20 schools listed in each category.

Oregon Law’s inclusion on The National Jurist’s list of top ranked public interest law schools illustrates continuing excellence in legal academics. In 2011, Oregon Law boasted three top 10 programs including, Legal Research and Writing (LRW), Environmental and Natural Resource Law (ENR), and Appropriate Dispute Resolution (ADR), as reported by U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 edition of “America’s Best Graduate Schools.”
