Rhett primarily advises clients on trademark and copyright matters. Specifically, he counsels on IP development, enforcement, acquisition, and licensing matters across multiple industries including, medical, high-tech, consumer goods, and sports and entertainment. He is heavily involved in brand protection counseling and strategic advising, and he has experience developing company-wide intellectual property policies and procedures. In addition to IP, Rhett works with clients on general corporate and business matters, including filings for the state, and drafting and reviewing contracts and employment agreements.
Rhett previously worked with the Coalition to Advance the Protection of Sports logos (“CAPS”) doing trademark/copyright enforcement by assessing infringement, drafting and sending C&Ds, and communicating with infringers/counterfeiters, outside counsel, and intermediaries. Rhett also worked to create strategic initiatives with industry partners and law enforcement. He has trained state and federal officials in the U.S. and internationally on identification of counterfeit products and intellectual property enforcement best practices.
In addition to his legal career, Rhett volunteers with the Greater Spokane Meals on Wheels. He is also on the Liberty Lake Library Foundation Board of Directors and acts as their General Counsel. Through his worldwide travels, Rhett has become fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
