Women’s Law Forum

Who We Are:

The Women's Law Forum is one of the oldest and largest law student organizations at the University of Oregon School of Law. The purpose of the Women's Law Forum is to provide just that: a forum for women in the law school. Through the organization of on-campus events and fundraisers, the WLF provides students with opportunities to network with legal professionals as well as learn about social and legal issues that affect women in the legal profession. WLF is dedicated to actively promoting equality and the fair treatment of women in the legal profession and in society as a whole.

What We Do:

The Women's Law Forum and its members contribute to the law school and the greater community in three main ways: conferences and speakers, networking opportunities, and public service. Past event topics include domestic violence, gender issues in criminal law, women in business and commercial law, women in government, and a number of social events with law professors, local lawyers, and judges. Past speakers include the Honorable Virginia Linder of the Oregon Supreme Court, Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown, Sarah Buel, and many others. WLF events and membership is open to all interested students.

Annual Events:

  • Women's Law Forum Mixer - a networking event for students, local attorneys, and professors. Welcomes new students to the forum, community and law school.
  • Toiletry Drive for Womenspace – a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence and providing education about domestic violence.
  • Luncheon with the Honorable Chief Judge Ann Aiken – a networking event for students, local attorneys, judges, and professors. Provides an opportunity to engage with legal professionals in the community, meet the members of the Lane County Women Lawyers (LCWL), and visit the District Courthouse where Chief Judge Aiken hosts the event.
  • Roosevelt Rush – a fun networking event for all law students and professors that is historically hosted in a professor's home.
  • Lunch Events – speakers are invited to the law school to discuss relevant social, academic, and professional issues in relation to women in the legal profession.
