Justin Boyd ’08

‘A career path dependent on my own actions’

Justin BoydClass of 2008 graduate Justin Boyd is an associate with Rothgerber, Johnson, & Lyons LLP in his hometown of Denver, Colorado. Rothgerber is a full service firm offering both litigation and transactional work. Boyd’s area of practice is on the transactional side where he specializes in business transactions, corporate governance, real estate, securities regulation and aviation leasing and financing.

Boyd’s interest in law school began during his undergraduate studies at Middlebury College, where he was interested in politics and a career in policy work. “The more I learned about politics, the more I wanted to develop a career path dependent on my own actions and not those of anyone else,” said Boyd. “Also, my parents always told me that I would make a good lawyer since I argued so much.”

During his time at Oregon Law, Boyd served as the associate editor for the Oregon Law Review. He also played in the Legal Ballers Association and with a coed indoor soccer team. Exploring the local ski lodges proved to be a priority for Boyd as he spent as much time as his studies would allow at Mt.Bachelor and Willamette Pass.

The education Boyd obtained at Oregon Law has helped him establish and advance his career. He indicates that the lessons and processes he learned on how to find the answer in his classes applied in his legal career. “Things you learn in class aren’t only theoretical,” Boyd noted. They do apply to the real world.
