Law degree leads to London office of Twitter

Kira O’ConnorFor Kira O’Connor ’12, earning a law degree means opening the door to numerous professional opportunities, including the ability to pursue a career at one of the world’s largest social media companies — Twitter.

“My law degree has given me the opportunity to do many things. I feel like my law degree has broadened the landscape of possibilities for me. It’s given me analytical skills that I can use and apply in different areas,” said O’Connor.

Due to early involvement in the entertainment industry and a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley, O’Connor decided to attend law school to “learn more about the intellectual property issues that surrounded the media industry.” In addition, she hoped that the advanced education would catapult her to higher levels in her career.

She chose Oregon Law specifically because she knew she would get individual attention from the faculty and staff, and was impressed by the school’s nationally ranked programs.

During her time at Oregon Law, O’Connor focused on sports and entertainment law, and the intellectual property issues in those areas. She served as the managing director of the Sports and Entertainment Law Forum student organization and as the editor-in-chief for Legality, a student-produced online legal journal.

O’Connor recently joined the London offices for Twitter where she is a partnership associate. She assists the Twitter team with various verticals in media, sports, music, entertainment, government and more.
