Oregon Constitutional Law

Begin with a brief examination of the history of the Oregon Constitution and its relation to the United States Constitution, in particular as an independent source of individual liberties that may supplement or exceed those in the federal Bill of Rights. Thereafter, the course will turn to particular provisions of the Oregon Constitution, with a focus on those conferring individual rights but also including the relation of state and local government, initiative and referendum, separation of powers, and funding limitations. Pre-req Con Law II.
