Fall 2019 • Law 661 • Credits: 3

Instructor: Erik Girvan

This course deals with the principal remedies available in our legal system for redress of civil wrongs. These include compensatory damages, restitutionary remedies, and the various forms of injunctive relief, including temporary restraining orders. The functioning of each of these remedial devices will be examined in various substantive law contexts, including torts, contracts, commercial and business law, property, and civil rights. As time permits, some attention will also be given to such matters as attorney fee awards, interest on judgments, fluid recoveries, structured settlements, and declaratory judgments, and ethical issues.
