Environmental Justice

Spring 2020 • Law 610 • Credits: 2

Instructor: Malia Losordo

This course will cover the development, theories, and practice of environmental justice law and policy, which sits at the nexus of two well-established legal fields – environmental law and social justice law – and will survey the stories of communities from across the United State and world. Students will explore the intersections of race and class and the environment; the relationship between the environmental movement, civil rights movement, and environmental justice movement; fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people in the development and implementation of environmental law; environmental racism; and the right of all people to clean air, water and land.
