Andrea Coles-Bjerre teaches and writes in the fields of bankruptcy law (particularly Chapter 11) and civil procedure. She also is Faculty Director of the law school's Business Law Program and runs the law school's externships with the United States Bankruptcy Courts and the Office of the United States Trustee. Before joining the UO faculty, Professor Coles-Bjerre practiced for six years with the Wall Street law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, where she represented corporate debtors, lenders and acquirers in a variety of complex Chapter 11 and other insolvency matters. She also was a law clerk for U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerome Feller in the Eastern District of New York. Coles-Bjerre earned her J.D. at Brooklyn Law School, where she was a Jerome Prince Scholar, and her B.A. magna cum laude in English Literature at Barnard College.
