The one-year General LLM program welcomes attorneys and law school graduates from around the world. Expand your knowledge of the law and your global professional network at a law school with nationally-ranked academic specialties.
The General LLM is open to students who have a foreign law degree (e.g., an LLB), strong academic credentials, and meet or exceed the conditional minimum English proficiency requirements for admission to the University of Oregon.
Oregon Law offers three tracks of study under the General LLM program. These tracks are designed for both foreign and American lawyers who would like to continue their legal studies for professional advancement, in-depth study in a particular concentration, or development of a new practice area.

Two-Year LLM
Develop your knowledge and understanding of social and political structures underlying the American legal system and gain a mastery of the professional-level English language in the Two-Year LLM program.
During the first year, students complete a dedicated sequence of courses examining foundational concepts of the American legal system at the American English Institute.
In addition, they will take a complementary sequence of courses that provide interactive instruction, activities, and individualized feedback necessary to develop and hone their skills in professional-level writing, speaking, legal analysis, and advocacy.
After completion of the first year, students join the General LLM cohort and choose from one of three specialized tracks. These tracks are designed for lawyers who would like to continue their legal studies for professional advancement, in-depth study in a particular concentration, or development of a new practice area:
