Andrea Coles-Bjerre writes and teaches in the fields of Bankruptcy (particularly Chapter 11 corporate reorganizations) and Civil Procedure, often using insights from cognitive linguistics to critique legal rules and the process of judicial decisionmaking. She is also the Faculty Director of the University of Oregon School of Law’s program in Business Law. Before joining the U of O faculty, Coles-Bjerre was in private practice for six years, working as lead associate in numerous complex Chapter 11 matters at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in New York City. She also clerked for the Hon. Jerome Feller, Bankr. E.D.N.Y. (retired), and interned for the late Hon. Tina Brozman, Bankr. S.D.N.Y. Coles-Bjerre is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and of Barnard College, magna cum laude in English Literature. Professor Coles-Bjerre is a member of the Executive Committee of the AALS Section on Law and Interpretation.
