The Lew and Ann Williams Business Law Fellowship (Fellowship) provides a unique opportunity for a selected 2L or 3L Lew and Ann Williams Business Law Fellow (Fellow) to work with a faculty advisor on research and projects involving cutting-edge issues in the business law field. Each Fellow will have one or more faculty advisors during the academic year in which the Fellow has been selected to participate in the Fellowship.
Scope of the Fellowship
During the Fellowship, Fellows:
- Work with a faculty advisor on business-law-focused projects
- Submit two, two-page reflection memoranda (one toward the end of Fall Semester; and one toward the end of Spring Semester). The reflection memoranda provide an overview of the Fellow’s Fellowship projects, how the projects are contributing to the Fellow’s knowledge of business law, and how the Fellowship is contributing to the Fellow’s professional development/identity.
- Present to the Business Law faculty (during either Fall semester or Spring semester) about a project on which the Fellow has been working
Depending on the scope of the Fellow’s Fellowship work, Fellows may also have an opportunity to work on projects with Business Law faculty who are not serving as the Fellow’s faculty advisor.
Faculty Advisor Notification
Fellows will be notified about the Fellow’s faculty advisor(s) in advance of the fall semester in which the Fellowship begins.
Time Commitment
The Fellowship is intended to be education-focused. The Fellow and the Fellow’s faculty advisor should coordinate meeting times and discuss the scope and timelines of the project(s). The Fellowship time commitment is, on average, 5-7 hours per week over a 14-week period.
Non-renewable Fellowship
The Fellowship is for one academic year and is not renewable.
