Emily Wanner serves as Director of Externships & Off-Campus Programs at Oregon Law. As Director of Externships, Emily oversees the program as a whole and helps students connect classroom learning with legal practice through supervised placements in courts, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, law firms, and corporate legal departments. Working closely with these offices, Emily develops and maintains a robust network of externship opportunities throughout Oregon and across the country, creating pathways for students to gain practical experience, build professional relationships, and explore potential career paths while earning academic credit.
Emily also administers the Oregon Law Anywhere Program, an innovative new offering that allows students to spend their final year of law school anywhere in the United States pursuing career-building externship opportunities and growing their professional network in the legal market they intend to practice in, all while continuing and completing their Oregon Law coursework via specially designed online courses. Through individualized advising, program coordination, and collaboration with faculty and external partners, Emily helps students design immersive third-year educational experiences that combine rigorous academics with meaningful professional opportunities in the communities where they hope to launch their legal careers.
Emily earned her J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with minors in Biology and Political Science from Iowa State University. She has served in leadership roles for the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation and the Oregon Legal Recruiters Association.
Emily hales from the Midwest but has called Oregon home for the past 15 years. When not working, she enjoys riding horses, nature, traveling, the arts, and spending time with her husband, twins, and dogs.
