Invest in Practice-Ready Education

Impact Goal: 100% BAR PASSAGE. 100% EMPLOYMENT.

Practice-ready lawyers are not developed in a single course or a single semester. Through clinics, externships, simulation courses, competitions, pro bono service, fellowships, and other experiential opportunities, students move beyond studying the law to putting the law into practice.

Through initiatives such as Oregon Law Anywhere, expanded bar preparation resources, enhanced professional development, and new approaches to experiential learning, Oregon Law is creating pathways to prepare students to meet those demands.

Every generation of lawyers has had to deal with technological changes, evolving client expectations, new business models, and complex societal challenges. At Oregon Law, we have experience preparing our students for the demands of the future.

Law Students in Competition
PUTTING LEGAL SKILLS TO THE TEST

In her third year at Oregon Law, Adelaide Fitzgerald, JD '26, won The Closer, a prestigious invitation-only transactional law competition that draws top students from law schools across the country.

Designed to simulate real-world legal practice, The Closer challenged competitors through multiple rounds of complex negotiations. The experience sharpened Fitzgerald's communication, negotiation, and strategic-thinking skills as she prepares for a career in private practice."It's such a great learning experience," she said.

Fitzgerald built her success on skills developed early in life, such as solving problems on her family's cattle ranch near Brookings to teaching English to high schoolers in Klamath County. At Oregon Law, she refined those strengths through coursework, Moot Court, and faculty mentorship.
