In the classroom, we emphasize policy issues as a backdrop to legal frameworks, because we believe that lawyers who think through policy ramifications of the law will better serve society into the future. We also highlight the practical aspects of law, seeking always to convey an understanding of how courts, agencies, legislative bodies and international forums actually function in the broad spectrum of environmental decision-making. And we devote consistent attention to the public's role in such processes.
