Biography

Emily Wanner is the managing director of the University of Oregon School of Law’s Portland Program, located in the heart of downtown Portland. Emily is a 2012 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law (UO Law), where she received concentrations in environmental and public interest law. She earned her bachelor of science in business management with minors in biology and political science from Iowa State University.

As the primary law school administrator in Portland, Emily takes a lead role in providing counseling and coaching to Portland students in the areas of academics, personal health and wellness, career planning and professional development, bar exam readiness, and post-graduate planning. She works closely with her colleagues in Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and the Career Center in this work.

In addition to her work with students, Emily also serves as a key representative to the Portland-area legal community, collaborating with a variety of employers, state and local bar affinity groups, and UO Law alumni to highlight the law school’s Portland presence and create innovative opportunities for UO Law students and graduates in the region.

Some of Emily’s other important work includes creating and managing the Portland Alumni Mentorship Program for 3Ls, overseeing and growing the Portland In-House Counsel Externship Program, and working with UO Law faculty to organize the annual UO Law Works-in-Progress Conference, held at the UO Portland campus.

Prior to joining the law school’s Portland Program team, Emily served as program manager for the University of Oregon Environmental and Natural Resources Law Center. As a student, she lent her energy to a variety of non-profit law firms and organizations, including the Western Environmental Law Center, Trustees for Alaska, the Surfrider Foundation, and the World Food Prize Foundation.

Emily currently serves on the board of directors for the Oregon Women Lawyers Foundation and as President Elect for the Oregon Legal Recruiters Association. When not at work, Emily enjoys brushing up on her musical skills and exploring the great outdoors with her children, husband, and dogs.
