Oregon Law awarded the Nicole Richardson Outstanding Public Service Award to graduating law students Elliott Samuels and Alina Stevenson. This annual award honors the memory of UO Law alum Nicole Richardson who tirelessly dedicated herself to public service and representation of vulnerable people.
Elliott Samuels focused on indigent defense from his first days of law school. He spent two summers working for the Santa Clara County Public Defender Office. As a third-year, Mr. Samuels externed and volunteered hundreds of hours for the Oregon Innocence Project.
Alina Stevenson worked in multiple public interest positions during her time at Oregon Law. In addition to volunteering with the South African Human Rights Commission, Ms. Stevenson worked as advocate for domestic abuse victims and served as a student leader of Public Interest Public Service (PIPS).
