While at Oregon Law, I gained invaluable skills from the various practical and hands-on experiences that were made available to me.

During the fall of my 1L year, I received an email from Career Services about an education law conference that was going to be held in Portland.  As a former teacher, education law was an area of interest, so I went to the conference and met attorneys from my current firm.  I worked with my career counselor to develop the relationships I made with the attorneys I met at the conference. Career Services helped me polish my resume and cover letter and prepare for my interview which led to my 1L internship and current job.

Today, I am an associate attorney at Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost LLP (“F3”) in Oakland, California.  I was a summer associate at F3 both summers during law school. After taking the California Bar Examination, I worked as a post-bar law clerk for F3 and transitioned to the associate attorney role in January 2020 after being admitted to the State Bar of California.  My firm represents educational institutions and related agencies throughout the state. I primarily work in our special education practice area.

I use what I learned in my Legal Research and Writing course almost on a daily basis to conduct research and draft documents. I have also used what I learned from Professor Tippett’s employment law class to help with various projects.
