2019 Oregon Law Award Nominations Now Open!

Each year at the Oregon Law Awards Dinner the University of Oregon School of Law presents the John E. Jaqua Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Outstanding Young Alumnus Awardand the Oregon Law School’s Minoru Yasui Justice Award. These awards will be presented during the Alumni and Friends Fall Kickoff Weekend, Sept. 12-14, 2019.

The John E. Jaqua Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented to an alumnus whose personal and professional achievements and loyalty to Oregon Law exemplify the highest quality and ethical standards of the School of Law. The Distinguished Alumnus Award is named after its first recipient, the late John E. Jaqua. Last year’s nominee for the Jaqua Award was deferred to this year, so no new nominations are being solicited this cycle. We are thrilled to share that our former dean, Professor Laird Kirkpatrick, ’68, will be the 2019 Jaqua Award recipient.

We invite you to submit nominations for the following two awards:

  1. The Oregon Law School’s Minoru Yasui Justice Award will be given to an Oregon Law graduate, faculty member, or friend of Oregon Law whose commitment to advancing the cause of justice on behalf of underrepresented communities brings honor to the school. The award is named in recognition of Presidential Medal of Freedom winner and Oregon Law Alumnus, Minoru Yasui.
  2. Oregon Law School’s Outstanding Young Alumnus Award is awarded to an Oregon Law graduate who has made significant career, leadership, or service contributions to their community, the School of Law, or the legal profession. The award recognizes accomplishments within their first 10 years after graduation.
